Mocha : Jaw Abscess!

Posted: September 29, 2013 in Inside The Playpen

This is Mocha.

Since 26 Sept, he is having excessive salivation/drooling and he didn’t touch his food. At first, I thought he was having a heatstroke. So i gave him Simethicone and Reglan as the gut stimulant. And syringe feed him with Critical Care too.

On 27th, i found a lump on his left jaw. I gave him 1ml Simethicone, 0.75ml Reglan and 0.3ml Metacam. He looked a bit better after received his Metacam (painkiller/analgesic). Oral Metacam for rabbits is not available in Malaysia. We only have injectable Metacam and there is no way for me to administer the injectable drug.

Image

Today (28 Sept), i took him to Hillpark Vet, Kota Kemuning. He was put under isoflorance anesthetic and vet found out his misalinged molar caused a hole and abscess inside his cheek. Vet cut open his skin and clean his jaw abscess.

Image

Maxie looks very painful tonite. He is sitting at the corner of his cage with eyes half open. Vet has administered Metacam injectable analgesic (too bad we don’t have oral Metacam for bunnies in Malaysia). And I was told the problem will recur, depending on the teeth growing rate. Looks like we have to file down his molar from time to time.

Please pray for Mocha’s speed recovery. Crossing fingers and paws, hoping miracles will happen, no more misalinged molar, and no more cut to his cheek again.

Sigh.

Yes, they are grounded for 1 night. Can u spot any of 4 kitties in this photos?

Time flies.

Years ago, blogging and blog-walking were my ‘hobbies’.

My most favourite blog was Furrybutts. I miss Hans. I wonder how the sweet boy Yohji, alpha Buttons, and mysterious Bailey are doing right now. Their Mommy just stopped blogging. And it became one of the reason why i stopped visiting my friends’ blog too.

I didnt had any intention to stop writing and sharing about my pets.

I never realized that i had abandoned my blog for more than a year… It started after Shiro’s passing.

Then Moris..
Then The Squirrels…
Then The Chipmunks….

I hate sharing and writing sad stories. It makes my heart shattered into million pieces….

*pause*

But now, I’m trying to write again. And hope nothing can stop me this time.

I want to keep writing.

This blog is the only way to recall all the memories i had with my pets…

And oh! I created a Facebook page for The Fluffies & The Purrrrs!!
Follow us and see u there!!!

Mocha Has A Dental Issue

Posted: December 18, 2011 in Inside The Playpen

I was busy lately. I couldn’t even find time to update my blog!

Recently, I’ve been working on a few things. I didn’t realized i have failed to spend times with The Fluffies and failed to make the weekly routine until i found this.

This is Mocha’s incisors today. He has a difficulties to pick up raisin from my hand.

Mocha : Front profile

One of the peg teeth has misaligned. The lower incisor worn out.

Mocha : Side Profile

Healthy teeth should have clear color. But as u see from the side photo, the upper incisors start to turn white in color (click photo for bigger view).

He lost the lower incisor in Feb 2011.
This was how the the incisors looked like previously. No white patch on the teeth.

Mocha's missing incisor

And this is Mickybell’s (Mocha’s littermate) incisors.

Mickybell : Front profile

Mickybell : Side profile

Mickybell’s upper incisors look longer than them supposed to be, but they’re still aligned.

Alfie lost his lower incisor too, the same week Mocha lost his (Feb 2011). We sent Alfie for teeth burring. 2 weeks later, the upper incisors grew back to their original length. But until today, the length remain the same. So i’m not really worry about him compared to Mocha.

Will send Mocha to the same vet who perform teeth burring to Alfie.

Now i have to monitor these 3 Fluffies VERY closely.

Just Another Junk…

Posted: August 16, 2011 in Inside The Playpen

I bought this ‘junk’ for almost 3 weeks. Put it in my living area. But no furkid touched or even looked at it. Sigh. Another item to be dumped into the store room…

Junk. Hehe :P

While i was searching for my DIY Littertray Idea photos i shared in a local forum, i found a lot of Shiro’s photos in that forum too…

My post on 10 March 2010. I believe i haven’t upload these photos in my blog before :

Photo of my 'Si Budak Bucuk' sleeping...

Watching tv with human

Who is more handsome?

Of course la my 'Si Budak Bucuk' :D

We miss u, Budak Bucuk!

A new rabbit owner was asking me about my bunnies littertray. So i have to dig some photos i shared in one of the local forum i joined last 3 years.

I have 12 bunnies in 10 separate cages in the Rabbit Room. I cant afford buying expensive littertray with grill on top, so I DIY them myself.

These are what u need for your DIY littertray :
♦ Cheap plastic trays, RM2-3 each from Kedai RM2 or HappyHome Shop nearby.
♦ Wiremesh/net. U can easily get it from hardware shop, RM6-8/meter. 1 meter can make 6 littertrays depend on the tray’s size.
♦ Wire cutter to cut the wiremesh/net

Cut the wiremesh. Make it bigger than the littertray.

Bend the each end of the wiremesh. This is to prevent your bunny from step into their urine.

Taraaaaaa! A simple littertray with grill on top! Easy rite?

I don’t use any litter material or bedding in the littertray. But if u’re using bedding material like Woodypet, u can use a wire net and put it on top of the bedding to prevent the bedding from kick out of the tray.

To maintain the littertray to be as clean as new : Soak the littertray with vinegar for 10-15 minutes once a week or at least 2 weeks once to get rid the urine stain. Then scrub and wash with mild detergent :)

Alfie’s Vet Appointment

Posted: March 18, 2011 in Inside The Playpen

Alfie’s dental appointment with Dr L from Hill Park Veterinary, Kota Kemuning. We were supposed to take him for teeth trimming. And since he is not neutered yet, we decided to snip him too :)

The appointment was on 27 Feb 2011. I was about to write about this appointment a few days later, but was too busy with some works and have not much time to make a long post.

Here is Alfie’s handsome look, a few hours before the long journey.

Well-groomed bunneh!

I gave him 1ml of Nutri-drops multivitamin.

I make the grumpy bunny swallow it all :D

Knowing that he will not drink and eat during the stressful and long journey, I gave him about 0.5mg (2cm) of Benebac.

A must have 1st aid kit! Benebac Probiotic :D

I also want to thank my online friend who helped me get my first aid kit from a vet in Singapore. Thanks a lot Cecilia Leong! And thanks to the vet from The Joyous Vet, Singapore

Nice and cute paperbag from TJV..

What is inside the paperbag? Taraaaa….!

Electrolyte for the bunnehs~

RidWind Baby Drops Simethicone from Guardian! Finally!!

And i always make sure i have at least a pack of Oxbow Critical Care and other treats at home.

Critical Care and treats for emergency.

We drove off from Penang at 4am in the morning and reach Kl at 8.30am. The vet had an emergency in that morning. We met her at 11.30am. She briefed us about the procedure, and it took her about 45 minutes to done the surgery.

I was sooo nervous till i forgot to snap photo during the Penang to KL journey and inside the clinic.

After the surgery, we waited for another 45minutes to see Alfie’s progress before took him home.

Here is the photo i snapped on the way home.

My good boy

I have a video too:

And this is the photo of Alfie soon as we reached home.

Settling down himself

The good news is, Alfie didn’t show any sign of pain n stress due to the surgery at all. Unlike the other 4 bunnies i neutered in Penang. I couldn’t see any suture sticking out at his sacks. Different method compared to the ones we did on Dino, Mocha, Maxie and Achilles maybe. But of course the next day we found the sacks swollen, but now they slowly shrinking and getting smaller.

Swollen sacks, the next day after the surgery

The sacks are getting smaller and soon they will be gone :)

Alfie would like to thanks all who pray for our journey to KL :)

Healthy bunny is a happy bunny :D

Luv ya~ ♥
